Pushing the Limits: Terramax A/T
Destination: Northern Xinjiang – Urumqi, Junggar Basin, Tacheng, Alashankou, Sayram Lake, Yining. China’s largest province holds some of the most rugged terrain imaginable in China which was the perfect setting to test the capabilities of the Sailun Terramax A/T. The event took place from June 7th to the 13th and involved 24 customers from three regions – SE Asia, Australia, and the Middle East - to “Push the Limits” of the Terramax A/T and the customers in a tiring off-road journey.
The first leg of the event took place in the Junggar Basin region where the group met with some adverse weather conditions and endless droves of sandy and loose terrain. Uphill and downhill trekking was the staple for the day’s challenge; however Terramax A/T was there to tackle the conditions without any problems. The aggressive pattern offered excellent grip for the uphill grinds and steep downhill slopes. Customers were given the opportunity to hop in the driver’s seat and test their off-roading skills as well as feel Terramax A/T performance for themselves. As the enduring Xinjiang sun finally set on the first day, the tuckered-out group set up their tents and enjoyed the call of the wild for the evening.
Some might not know that Xinjiang is home to the largest rally racing series in Asia: The Taklimakan International Rally Race. We gave Sailun reps the opportunity to meet the Sailun Group sponsored Ruiqi Off-Road Rally Team participating in the Tier 2 segment of the race. Ruiqi has three SJG sponsored rally vehicles that are on their third consecutive year of racing. The group was given a tour of the vehicles fitted with Terramax A/T and the Taklimakan race starting grounds. Ruiqi is currently in the middle of the Taklimakan Rally and has received a gold medal for their performance in the fourth segment of the race; only 6 more to go! Best of luck for another T2 Championship!
On the last leg of the trip, some customers began sweating nervously as the excursion entered through a mountain path “shortcut” toward Alashankou and Sayram Lake. Rocky terrain was on the menu today with sharp rocks spread across the trail just waiting to test the endurance and strength of the Terramax A/T sidewall. The team ended up making it through their hard-fought journey with no problems and was well repaid with some stunning views of the Northern Xinjiang landscape.
Overall, Sailun received positive feedback for the trip and excellent feedback for the performance of the Terramax A/T. If you’d like to receive more information about the trip please let us know!
