Sailun University Officially Opens its Doors
Sailun University held its official opening ceremony on November 29 with the National Engineering Research Center for Rubber and Tire (NERCRAT) Director and Sailun University President Yuan Zhongxue, NERCRAT Chief Scientist and Sailun University Honorary President Wang Mengjiao, Rubber Valley Group Chairman and President Zhang Yan, Sailun University Executive Vice-president Liu Yanhua, as well as Mesnac President Guan Bingzheng present. Nearly 300 people, including managers, employees and Sailun Group's upstream and downstream supply chain partners witnessed the momentous occasion.
As a company that emerged from a research institution, Sailun Group has maintained a close business-education relationship since its establishment. During the crucial stage of Sailun's second phase of development and integration of its industrial platforms, increasing the number and level of talent has become a critical factor affecting the company's competitiveness. Sailun University was formed in response to the importance of cultivating quality talent who meet the Group's strategic development requirements.

In his presentation, “Be a Valuable Corporate University”, Sailun University Vice-president Wang Feng introduced the university's ideals, direction, development plans and three-level training management system. Sailun University believes that “talents are not only cultivated, but also identified”, “excellent companies should not only develop talents, but also realize talent accomplishments”, “good management at all levels, which is the backbone of a business, starts from the frontline”.
In terms of direction, Sailun University is committed to building a talent training mechanism, develop a team of quality talents and advocate the importance of corporate culture values by spreading the ethos of entrepreneurship. The university will also focus on production, operation and management solutions as well as optimization of processes. It also aims to strengthen business knowledge management, training system and other aspects to promote the development of quality talents and energize the organization in driving change.

In her presentation, “Sailun University – Strategic Assurance for Quality Development”, Liu Yanhua said talent is a key factor determining Sailun's success, thus the establishment of Sailun University is a key component of building an excellent talent management system for its second development stage. Talent management requires systematic thinking, making key breakthroughs and constant improvements. With the talent training mechanism, the company can inherit, iterate and maintain its business foundation.
Liu Yanhua stressed that Sailun University aims to provide professional support for frontline employees and managers at all levels. All managers will share their knowledge and management skills at the lecture hall. They will also reflect on their own experiences and the lessons learned, as well as set up a case study database to create a “knowledge camp” exclusive to Sailun. In the future, more emphasis will be placed on the contribution of managers to the organization. For example, the ability of managers to lead a team will be an important evaluation criterion. Through Sailun University, a standardized model of producing talents will be formed to lay a solid foundation for Sailun's global development.

Delivering his speech, Yuan Zhongxue pointed out that the year 2020 is not only a year of a raging pandemic, but also one with significant changes across the world. We are currently experiencing unprecedented changes, we must seize the opportunities, work hard and keep making progress. Talent is undoubtedly the top priority in Sailun's development. Sailun University is created to set up a talent management system that takes into account various aspects such as strategy, goals, culture, moral character and professionalism. It should continue identifying talents from the frontline and nurture outstanding employees. Selection is the basis of talent cultivation as it is necessary to uncover each employee's strengths, train and take advantage of their talents. It is also important to invite experts from home and abroad to give lectures with an international perspective in building a world-caliber team.
Yuan Zhongxue stressed that Sailun managers of all levels must constantly seek improvements, become operators from managers, set high standards for themselves and uphold the core values of “trust and respect”. They should also practice a people-oriented corporate culture, be courageous and assume responsibility. “We are broad-minded and committed to achieving our goals with a far-sighted vision. Our experiences and lessons learned along the way will be used as case studies for teaching at Sailun University to drive the development of the Group and supply chain.”
