Sailun Tire Drift Team Sweeps the Competition in Stop 2 of DCGP
On Oct. 27th, Heze city, the second stop of DCGP came to a successful end. In Round 3 and Round 4 competitions, Sailun Tire Drift Team won the top three placements, only further proving the strength of the Sailun drift tires and the team.
This week’s competition saw three drivers take part in the competition: Hibino Tetsuya, Chen Wenqian, and Xia Changhao. The drivers were set with their 2JZ powered BMW E90, S15, and GT-R R35 racing car respectively. On Saturday, in the drift-chase race in Round 3, Chen Wenqian took third place beating American Formula D champion, Chris Forsberg, Li Chunyu, and Zhu Yuanlu. Hibino Tetsuya was named champion after defeating several of his rivals Wang Qi, Zhu Yuanlu, and Zhang Shengjun.
In the final drift-chase race of Round 4, competing against Chris Forsberg, Hibino Tetsuya took second place. Although he took second, his driving points accrued to rank him in first, and his single race points placed him in second among all racing drivers.
DCGP is currently the most professional and highest level of drifting competitions in China. The concept and race system are based on the D1GP races in Japan, also using a track director, track designer and judge group all from Japan. The DCGP also includes the use of the DOSS scoring system which records the speed, angle and other parameters of the race car while drifting by GPS and calculates a score. Based on the DOSS system, the DCGP scoring mechanism also adds judges to review overall scoring who are placed at three different referee observation stages to increase the challenge for the drivers. Many drivers said that such a scoring mechanism and track design is a test of a driver's overall skills.
The theme of Heze competition this time was "high-speed drift", with the total length of the track exceeding 1000 meters, and the design of the first curve speed of 150Km/h. This type of design not only tests the courage and technique of the drivers, but also is a great test for the race car. Of course, the tire is the most important factor, for without the specially designed racing tire, the team cannot achieve such a distinguished performance.
After summarizing the results and experience of last year's drifting competitions, Sailun Group adjusted, designed and developed the second generation of drifting tires, which boast a strong grip and high speed stability to ensure the performance of the race car and to allow the drivers to go all-out. Taking part in these competitions is indeed the most rigorous way to test the performance of these specially developed tires. Every contact point between tires and the ground is an exploration of its limitations. Sailun consciously chooses the race track as its testing ground for the ultimate pursuit of high quality. Through each competition, we can see the Sailun Group R&D staff collecting detailed data of the used tire products, such as air pressure, remaining tread, and more. This information is then reviewed and used to improve the product over time. Through this process, Sailun does all in its power to be “The Quality Product Chosen by Champions”.
Every victory is not only a witness to strength, but also a process of self-improvement. We cannot achieve such a great performance in DCGP Heze without the cooperation of the entire team.
The Sailun Tire Drift Team will take on their next challenge at the CDC competition in Fuxin, Liaoning on Nov. 2nd and 3rd. Be sure to stay tuned!
