Sailun Tire Drift Team Sets a New Record at the Last Stop of the 2019 DCGP Series, China
On Nov. 23rd and Nov. 24th, the two-day "2019 DCGP" came to a successful end for the Sailun Drift Team at Zhuzhou Auto Park, Changsha. After a set of intense races, Sailun Tire Drift Team came out on top as the 2019 Singles Champion and "Manufacturer Cup" Champion. The team also placed as runner-up in the “Driver’s Cup”category, bringing about the era of a new "Drift King" and setting a new historical record in the industry.
Sailun Tire Drift Team was crowned the 2019 Singles Champion and "Manufacturer Cup" Champion.
The team faced a great challenge this race due to time conflicts of the DCGP Series and FIA IDC World Cup. The Sailun Tire Drift Team’s main racing cars were already transported to Japan for the FIA IDC World Cup, with only the training cars available to be used in the final stop of the DCGP competition. The racers were at a disadvantage with the vehicles only having 600 horsepower (the main racing cars are up to 1000 HP), however the Sailun Drift Team drivers, Hibino Tetsuya, Chen Wenqian, Xia Changhao, and Wan Xueping were able to overcame this and various other difficulties to take their place in history.
DCGP was first introduced to China in 2019 as the professional drifting competition in China. The concept and race system are all based on the D1GP format in Japan.
Since 2018, Sailun Tire has engaged in automobile drifting competitions and related products. To this date they have defeated domestic and overseas competitors claiming the championship positions for the 2018 D1GP China Cup singles and drift chase categories. With their continued win streak and after continuous racing tire tests, technology accumulation, and the exploitation of cutting-edge technology, Sailun Tire officially established the SAILUN MOTORSPORT Department in the beginning of October this year. The department is designed to specialize in racing tire R&D, slick and semi-slick tire testing, providing on-site technical support to the drifting team, and are in charge of the global sales of Sailun racing tires. "GENE R", the professional sports tires produced by SAILUN MOTORSPORT, are divided into two series: GENE R Podium racing tires and GENE R Pole street tires. Both product series are planned for launch in early 2020 for consumers globally.
As an outstanding representative of Chinese tire manufacturing prowess, Sailun will represent China to compete in the world's highest level drifting event -- the 2019 FIA IDC (equivalent of the Drifting World Cup) held at the Tsukuba Circuit in Japan.
