Sailun Group awarded A-rating in MSCI ESG Assessment – first for China’s tyre industry
Sailun Group has been awarded an A-rating in the latest Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) assessment conducted by Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI), rising from BB last year. With the certification, Sailun Group is China’s first tyre company to receive an A in the assessment. The MSCI is a globally recognised sustainability index.

Egypt to host new Sailun tyre plant
Sailun Group Co., Ltd. will build a major tyre plant in Egypt. The company provides details of the project in documents submitted to the Shanghai Stock Exchange, confirming a total investment of US$291.48 million to give Sailun its first manufacturing facility on the African continent. Xie Xiaohong, President of Sailun Group, signed an agreement for the project on 13 August at a ceremony attended by Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and other dignitaries.

Sailun joins the NTDA
Sailun Tyre has become the first Chinese tyre manufacturer to join the National Tyre Distributors Association (NTDA). The move marks a milestone for both organisations, according to Sailun, with the tyremaker further report that that it reinforces “Sailun’s commitment to the UK tyre sector and NTDA’s expanding engagement with global manufacturers operating in the region”.

Sailun purchasing closed Bridgestone TBR plant
SHANGHAI — Sailun Group subsidiary Sailun (Shenyang) Tire Co. has reached an agreement to purchase Bridgestone Corp.'s truck and bus tire manufacturing plant in Shanghai for $37 million.

Sailun invests in Australia’s Mobile Tyre Shop
Australia’s Mobile Tyre Shop is set on national expansion following investment from Sailun International Holding (Singapore) PTE Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Shanghai-listed Sailun Group Co., Ltd. Sailun has invested AUS$5 million (approximately £2.300 million; 2.788 million euros; US$3.269 million; 23.285 million yuan) into roughly 6.21 million units of the Mobile Tyre Shop Unit Trust, which gives it an 11.09 per cent stake in the trust.

Sailun’s Mexican tyre factory starts operation
Sailun reports that the first first semi-steel radial tyre rolled off the production line of its Mexican tyre factory on 29 May. The tyre manufacturer described this moment as the initiation of its North American factory and “official production and operation”.
